Splurge or Save? Manolo Blahnik vs. Boohoo

I’m a big fan of many designers and I love to splurge on some designer goodies, however, there are some times where I just prefer to buy the dupe or look for something that was inspired by the original simply. Might be because I’m not too fond of the price or know that it’s most likely going to be a purchase that I’m going to like for a short period of time, which would result in me regretting paying so much money for it to begin with. Life is all about balance after all. I couldn’t afford that much with my student money back in high school, so I remember always looking for designer items for less or dupes. I don’t like the idea of buying things that are complete copies of an original because that’s 100% plagiarism in my opinion, but if you’re interested in getting some good deals on items that were inspired by the original designer – then you’re in for a treat.

Splurge: Manolo Blahnik Embellished Mules

Many of you are probably already familiar with Manolo Blahnik, if not, then allow me to introduce you to this genius designer. He’s a Spanish designer, as far as I know, who is known for making quite some interesting shoes. The embellished heels have become quite so popular over time and are seen practically everywhere – remember Carrie from Sex & the City? She loved Manolos. I’m definitely one of those that have fallen in love with these Cinderella esque heels and want to own something similar. The great thing about this style is that they’re very versatile, so they might look fancy, but you can actually use them for different occasions. I would wear these to a wedding, a formal dinner, party etc. You really do have a lot of options. The embellished shoe comes in different styles and can also be found with a closed heel. I’ve just fallen in love with the mules for the look, but also because they seem super easy to put on and take off. So far we’ve talked about the appearance, but shouldn’t forget about comfort. To my surprise, I’ve actually read/heard that a lot of people find them really comfy and are even suitable for those that have wide feet (I’m one of them), which is a very pleasant surprise. Besides being pretty to look at, they’re also a little bit pricey. If you’re interested in splurging you can find them here.

Save: Boohoo Embellished Mules

The price, as mentioned earlier, was the main reason I wanted to create this post. Not everyone can afford designer items and no one should feel excluded because of that. On my recent hunt for new items on Boohoo I stumbled upon these gorgeous mules that caught my eye immediately, which made me look at my husband and ask him: “Don’t these look like Manolo Blahnik’s?” in which he answered “who?” I should’ve probably have known that he wouldn’t get it, but I was just quite surprised at that moment that I had to ask someone. I moved on to ask my mom and friend, who both agreed that they were quite similar indeed. They can of course be told apart from the fabric and the way that the crystals look/are glued on, but they still are worthy contributes. I think they look really gorgeous and I get to save myself a lot of money, which is always a good thing. I’m not sure about the comfort of these, but I’ve tried other shoes from Boohoo, which were comfy in my opinion, so I’m guessing these will be too. If you want to save some money – then click here.

Hope you liked this post! I’m definitely going to do more of these in the future, so you can save some money and still look super trendy.
